My professional training is in clinical social work. I started out in depth-oriented psychotherapy in 2012, moved to family work with foster and adoptive families in the middle part of my career and have returned to psychodynamic, systems-oriented psychotherapy with individuals and families since 2017. I have experience working with Transgender individuals, those in current or former relationships where intimate partner violence is present, foster and adopted youth, and Spanish speaking political and economic refugees and immigrants. I am trained in EMDR. I have undertaken a three year grief training to help people stay connected to, sit with and move through pain. More recently, I am adding to my practice work around supporting individuals who are experiencing stress and confusion in their workplace.
Kristina Hillhouse, a licensed clinical social worker, provides outpatient mental health counseling services in California. The boring details: I offer both telehealth and in person psychiatric services telehealth appointments are available to patients anywhere in California with in-person visits offered in San Bernardino and at my Brentwood satellite office by appointment.

I have over a decade of experience as a psychiatric nurse practitioner and previously spent nearly 10 years as a neonatal intensive care (NICU) nurse. These experiences have shaped my whole-personal approach to care and deep appreciation for clinical connection between physical health, emotional well-being, and family dynamics.
I offer both medication management and supportive therapy taking time to educate patients about their diagnosis and treatment options so they can make informed decisions about their own care.
